cleaning

this past weekend - i put my re-modeling work on a bit of a hold

and decided/needed to clean

now, the cleaning i'm talking about is not the usual wash the floors kind-of clean

i went through closets, papers, things, saved stuff...and gave or threw or ebayed

and when i was done (well, done for right now)

i sat back and realized i'd been 'cleaning' like this for a few weeks

as the work i've done in my house has been getting rid of carpet, blinds and all the stuff...

i literally have two shells of rooms waiting

waiting on me to want to fill them with - stuff

and i still don't know what stuff to fill them with -- i have a general idea - like to color of the paint

but nothing really concrete

so, you know i'm gonna take this somewhere

and here's goes

i think we need to use the same process to get rid of our 'bad' federal government

we need to get rid of all that we don't want...not just people but papers...all those papers filled with all those rules and laws and such

we need to get rid of policies and places and offices, maybe even rent out the buildings...

we need to have a empty shell with which to re-design our government

our government which is -- by the people, for the people...

we need to walk into empty rooms and just look - just imagine

what we want it to look like

and now for something completely different: credit

Way off topic but I finally got a chance today to read the comments at MM. Your were in the dentist chair on 9-11-01, and I was on my way to the dentist when we heard about the first plane. I was in the chair when the second one hit and on my way home when the third plane hit the pentagon. One time in my life when a dental visit wasn't the scariest thing that happened in my day.

A good cleaning is good for the soul, the house and the govt. Hopefully we'll get that done in Nov and really well in 08.

I don't know about you, but I always start cleaning at the top. This way everything that falls beneath can be vacuumed.

Same goes for cleaning our government. Unfortunately, we're going to have to start at the mid-levels this November.

...and thank YOU for being so kind -- again. :o)!

Well, you know what happens? All that empty space fills up again. Your rooms will, my desk will. It's just like it was never cleared out. You never miss the old stuff and the new stuff doesn't look much difference after a while. BTW, I vacuumed yesterday. :-) But I like to vacuum

AZG,
A sneeze is very cleansing, as are other releases. But more seriously, yes, a good cleansing is so purifying, so purgative (I'm hoping you were inspired by my "washing the soap" post). I take a more minimalist approach. Maybe pause. And meditate. Look at the emptiness of that empty white room. And embrace its powerlessness. Maybe even leave it empty and airy. One of my first thoughts on that 9/11 was: Oh, so this is what it feels like. This is what so many people, in Israel, the West Bank, myriad other places, have had to live with. Unfortunately, our culture largely squandered a chance to engage powerlessness.

This was great azgoddess! I read this like a poem. You are on to the right concept. We need to do a whole cleaning with the full crew and all the soap and water. We need to clean up all the blood soaking the White House lawn, and flooding the oval office.

And Muslims need to clean out all the extremism among us, and purify our faith from those who have hijacked it for evil means.

I really liked this post a lot. Thanks for the good read.

I'd say that would be a cleaning I could look forward to! Clean them all out!

Nice post. I knew it was going somewhere...

nick,
Yes. Clean out the redtape and the unneeded and useless laws and lobbyists and anything that corrupts the system...We're going to need a bigger trashcan!

Good post, az. Yes, we might as well start cleaning house while we still have a house left to clean, for as Bush told us yesterday,

"The safety of America depends on the outcome of the battle in the streets of Baghdad."

According to Bush, our house is on shakier ground than even I imagined!

Oh wait, hold on a sec, he's just saying that to scare folks into voting for the only party that can keep them safe; the party which equates their security with what's goin' down on the streets of Baghdad, right?

Thanks for the spring cleaning reminder even if it is six months too late (or early?). Okay, back to "throwin' out the trash!"

That is a cleaning that is long over due. But to keep it that way, it would have to be a yearly spring cleaning.
