hunger

not sure
how many
of you
have felt
hunger
pains lately

but i did
yesterday

and it was weird
cuz
i didn't know
what they were
when they
were happening

i just thought
my stomach hurt

but then
i attended
the banquet

and found
others
who's
tummy's hurt

and then
i ate
and my tummy
hurt in a different
way - from
eating too
much

now that tummy
hurt
i'm familiar with

peace peace peace

pro-active

i have been
fasting since
noon yesterday

i am
fasting to
end world
hunger

i will
end
the fast
at a special
banquet
this
evening

but
i plan
on continuing
this
fasting/donating
every
weekly/monthly

i do
believe
one person
can make
a difference!

Peace is a state of harmony, absent open hostility

saving

remember
when

as kids
we were taught
to save

save money
save the environment
save the children in africa

well
you get
the idea

so,
i was thinking

there i go thinking
again

how come
we are
~ now ~
being told
to spend, spend, spend?

seriously here

we wonder why
we/our government
has a trillion dollar
debt

but why wonder

just look at
the average
consumer
being told
that they
have to buy
the latest and
greatest
60 inch
plasma tv
before the stuper bowl

and they do!

so why should our
government
be any different
than it's regular citizen?

reading again

when i
find a really
important
and life-changing
book
i like
to read it over
and over
again

so
i thought
i would share
it with
you-all
today

All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten

All I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be I learned in kindergarten. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sandpile at Sunday School. These are the things I learned:

Share everything.
Play fair.
Don't hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don't take things that aren't yours.
Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life--learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world, watch out for traffic, hold hands, and stick together.
Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the Styrofoam cup: The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but we are all like that.
Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the Styrofoam cup--they all die. So do we.
And then remember the Dick-and-Jane books and the first word you learned--the biggest word of all--LOOK.

Everything you need to know is in there somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation. Ecology and politics and equality and sane living.

Take any one of those items and extrapolate it into sophisticated adult terms and apply it to your family life or your work or your government or your world and it holds true and clear and firm. Think what a better world it would be if we all--the whole world--had cookies and milk about three o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankies for a nap. Or if all governments had as a basic policy to always put things back where they found them and to clean up their own mess.

And it is still true, no matter how old you are-- when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together.

da news

i never
read the news

coming from chicago
where the news
was all about
murders
and rapes
and robbery

i learned
that news
was depressing

but today

for some reason
i read google news

and found this

Asteroid

and the only thing
i could think of while
reading this

was

how can we
be
sure
we aren't going
to blow
our own
selves up
by 2036?

peace, namaste
my friends!

it has come to my attention

that they
seem to
be stupidly
serious

about
homeland security

yes
i
used the
stupid word

does anyone
remember
duck and cover?

here's the video

so
it got me thinking
that
they
yet again
are trying to raise
another fear-based
generation

and it's
time
we put
a stop
to
this shit
once and
for all!

floors laid

not sure
if you-all
remember

but i'm redoing
my house

and had gutted
the second
and third
bedrooms

well
they came monday
and laid the oak wood floors
(tuesday
i had some tile
put in my living room
in anticipation
of a fireplace ~
all part of
my future
off the grid)

so i've been thinking
now that i
laid
a good
strong
foundation
(like we
have?
with our congress?)

it's time to think about
what i'm going to place
in these rooms..

or not place in these rooms

any suggestions?

love you-all!! hugs!!

happ-ee fri-day!

whew...

and here we are
another
workweek
gone by

and what
do we have to
show for it?

well
i'm gonna
tell you-all
a little secret here

i wish
that i could
be doing
something
to better our
small blue planet

i dream of
companies
owned by the people
who work in them,
who's mission
is to
'do no harm'

creative companies
where the bottom line
is not
how cheap to make
how much to sell

but

how best
to make a product
that lasts a long
long time
and
have minimal impact
on our mother earth
and
that 90 percent
of our population
can afford
and use/need

i dream some day
of creating these
companies
helping their birth
and then
watching,
as you watch a toddler take it's first steps,
them grow
and prosper
and then,
like a young adult
no longer needing me,
able to survive
on it's own

looking back
only to smile
and say thanks

um, mad

i was

yesterday

for a short while

i picked up
my grandson
and we went to the dentist
and had the windows down
as it was a nice
day ~~ finally

and the guy
next to us
had a smelly stinky
truck
with exhaust so thick
you could
see
it

and i had
alternative
universe thought

that there were
bubbles surrounding
all the personal vehicles in the world
and

the pollution
coming out
of the exhaust pipe
gets re-circulated
into the bubble
and the people
driving the vehicle
have to
smell it
the whole time
they are out
and about

think this would
make people
use alternative
fuels?

a little bit of

happy monday everyone

i'm celebrating
the fact that
the icy grip
that had the
desert

has left

and then
i read
you-alls rain
and cold
temps

so today
i decided
to send
a bit of
sunshine
to all those
who want it

which got
me to thinking
how come
they call it
global warming?
looks to me
like record temps
are being broken
on the higher and
lower end of
the scales

they should call it
'unusual climatic weather
changes brought on
by selfish corporations
who's bottom
line
is not the continuation
of the species'

now
i think
this would
catch more
people's attention!

monologue with your privates

well
that's what
my grandson
would say

i'd say
vagina monologues

i've gone
the past two years
and plan on going
again
this year

i buy two
tickets
and invite
a male friend
to come along

if you
have
never
attended
one of these
extra-special
monologues

i highly recommend
that you do!
and
don't forget
to
bring a friend!
