The author you linked has many good points. The combo of obedience to authority & conformity to one's peers was at the heart of nazi propaganda. Bushmerika: the 4th Reich (how I wish THAT were a joke). ~~ D.K.

That is scary, scary stuff in that link, and sure enough, it feels like it is happening that way.
This country was created by people fleeing authoritarians and theocrats, now it's happening here. Its got to stop.
